Is there anything more nauseating than the use of ‘lens’ as a verb when talking about cinematographers? Example: “Chicago, lensed by Dion Beebe” – ugh. Not only does it actually make my skin crawl, it doesn’t even make that much sense. ‘Lit by’ would be better. But let’s stick to ‘shot by’.

Wow, this guy’s talking about a subject really close to my heart. That disparity between what you’re doing and what you think is good is a constant challenge for DPs, I think.¬† Figuring out exactly what it is that your brain isn’t quite (or at all) happy with is a key skill.
